What summer actually does to an Australian lawn
Four things arrive more or less together. Grubs hatch and start feeding on roots. Warm-season weeds germinate and compete for water. Fungal disease follows humidity, particularly in lawns watered in the evening. And any patch with shallow roots or water-repellent soil browns off first, which is why the same corner fails every year.
None of those are helped by more fertiliser. Pushing growth in January asks a lawn to spend energy it needs for survival, and a lawn under heat stress cannot use the nutrient anyway.
Getting ahead of it
Everything in this collection is chosen for protection applied before the damage rather than after it, plus the moisture management that decides whether the water you are putting on reaches the roots at all. Timing matters more than product choice here: a grub preventative going down when beetles are flying does a job that the same product cannot do six weeks later. If you would rather not guess the dates, a Lawn IQ plan sequences them against your suburb, and our guide to lawn grubs covers the damage most often misread as drought.
