Fungus Identification & Treatment

G'day everyone, I'm here in Southeast Queensland and I wanted to do a quick video on fungicides. So in front of us we've got a pretty good demonstration of a Southeast Queensland lawn at the moment with all the storms around. So super thick, super spongy. For those guys that love their lawns a little bit longer, just remember in that you run the risk of what you're breeding deep down in under the thatch there. So you can have a build up of moisture which can cause funguses. You can also create a great habitat for pests as well as weeds. But today we wanted to talk a little bit more about funguses. So this is a buffalo lawn. It's extremely susceptible to funguses. If I thought I had a fungus in the backyard, I'd be looking at the leaf. So the spine is typically a place where you're going to get a grey leaf spot. And that is a grey leaf spot fungus. Another way you can have a look as well if it's something a little bit deeper down is pulling out a runner and having a look at the internotes. So I'll do that very briefly. So in between the internodes here and here where the leaves come out, if you see any major dark spots or even a rotten link in between the internodes, that's another excellent way to tell you if you've got fungus. We have both in the 500ml and also in the 100ml the Tombstone. So jump on, check that out. Excellent treatment. A bit of a hack though with fungicides. I'd be treating once as per the label and then again in 10 to 14 days. And we want to be really careful about what we're doing with the weather as well, making sure that that fungicide stays on the leaf as long as possible. So no mowing, no irrigation, nothing like that for two or three days after the fungicide application, even out to four if you can stretch it. I made a comment earlier about the cut length of this lawn. Ideally for a Buffalo lawn, you want to be looking at about 30 and up to a maximum of 40 millimeter mower height.
