Product Details

Small but mighty. Perfect for precision work. The Lawn IQ Handheld Broadcast Spreader delivers professional-grade even application in a compact, easy-to-carry form for spot repairs and smaller lawns.

Overview

This lightweight, portable spreader is designed for homeowners who want precision control over granular application. With an adjustable flow gate and smooth crank handle, it delivers consistent, even coverage without waste—ideal for applying fertilisers, insecticides, or soil amendments to specific lawn areas.

Design & Features

  • Durable, impact-resistant plastic hopper
  • Holds 2.5–3 kg of granular product
  • Adjustable flow gate for rate control
  • Smooth-turning crank handle for comfortable operation
  • Compact design—easy to carry and store
  • Broadcast pattern: approximately 2–3 metres wide

Coverage & Capacity

Lawn Size Hopper Capacity Coverage Per Load Best Use
Up to 250 m² 2.5–3 kg 1–2 loads typical Small residential lawns
250–500 m² 2.5–3 kg 2–3 loads typical Medium properties, spot repairs
500+ m² Not recommended Consider battery or push spreader

How to Use

  1. Fill the hopper with granular fertiliser, insecticide, or wetting agent.
  2. Adjust the flow gate to the desired setting. Start on the lowest setting and increase until you achieve even coverage (test on a small area first).
  3. Walk at a steady, consistent pace across the lawn, turning the crank handle smoothly and evenly.
  4. Overlap passes slightly to ensure complete coverage without gaps or double application.
  5. For square or rectangular lawns, walk in parallel lines. For odd-shaped areas, start at edges and work toward the centre.
  6. Empty the hopper completely after use to prevent product hardening or caking inside.

Product Compatibility

This spreader works with all dry, granular lawn products including:

  • Granular fertilisers (e.g., Baseline, Enduro)
  • Granular insecticides (e.g., Acelepryn GR, Monarch G)
  • Pre-emergent herbicides (e.g., Onset 10GR)
  • Granular wetting agents (e.g., DeepShot)
  • Soil amendments and lime
  • Grass seed (if applied to bare patches)

Not suitable for liquids or very fine powders that may cake or bridge in the hopper.

Maintenance & Care

  • After each use, empty the hopper completely and brush out any remaining granules.
  • Wipe the hopper and crank mechanism with a dry cloth to prevent moisture absorption.
  • Store in a dry location away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
  • Check the crank handle and flow gate periodically for smooth operation.
  • No moving parts to oil or lubricate—maintenance is minimal.

Tips for Best Results

  • Even pace: Walk at a consistent speed to achieve uniform application rates.
  • Overlapping: Overlap your passes by 10–15 cm to avoid lines or gaps in coverage.
  • Calm conditions: Apply on calm days to minimise wind drift and ensure product lands where intended.
  • Dry lawn: Spread on dry grass for best results. Wet grass can clump granules and cause uneven application.
  • Test first: On your first use, test the flow-gate setting on a small area to confirm even coverage before treating the entire lawn.

Why Choose This Spreader?

For homeowners working on small to medium lawns or doing spot repairs, this handheld spreader offers precision, control, and value. It requires no batteries, fuel, or charging—just consistent hand-cranking and it pays for itself after just a few applications compared to hiring a professional or purchasing multiple types of applicators.
