Product Details

Target nutgrass where your mower can't reach. ProSedge delivers selective, long-lasting control of Nutgrass and Mullumbimby Couch without harming your lawn.

Overview

Nutgrass is one of the hardest turf weeds to control because it spreads through underground tubers, not seed. ProSedge works from the inside out, moving through the weed's system to stop growth and destroy the tubers beneath the soil, preventing regrowth season after season.

Active Ingredients

Halosulfuron-methyl 750 g/kg

Classification: Selective post-emergent herbicide (Group II). For domestic and commercial turf.

Controls

ProSedge provides precise, systemic control of sedge species that ordinary broadleaf herbicides cannot touch.

  • Nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus)
  • Mullumbimby Couch (Cyperus brevifolius)
  • Other sedge species

Application Rate

Area to Treat Product Dose Water Notes
100 m² 20–30 g 5–10 L For pre-mix suspension
1,000 m² 200–300 g 50–100 L Typical application rate

How to Apply

  1. Choose a warm, growing season (spring through early autumn) when nutgrass is actively growing.
  2. Apply to nutgrass that is 10–15 cm tall. Younger plants are easier to control but larger infestations require treatment at any growth stage.
  3. Mix ProSedge as a suspension in water according to the rate above. Stir well during mixing.
  4. Spray evenly over infested areas, ensuring thorough coverage of all sedge shoots.
  5. Symptoms are a gradual yellowing of foliage and seed heads followed by desiccation. Initial symptoms may take 7–10 days to be noticeable, with full effects occurring 4 to 6 weeks after treatment.
  6. For optimum control, delay mowing for 2 days following treatment.

Important Information

  • Timing: Apply during active growth (spring and summer). Avoid winter application when growth is minimal.
  • Rain: Do not apply if heavy rain is expected within at least 48 hours. Irrigation or rainfall within two hours of application will reduce control.
  • Mowing: Delay mowing for 2 days following treatment. The label sets no restriction beforehand.
  • Grass types: Safe on most warm-season turf. Test on a small area first if you have bentgrass or other fine turf.
  • Repeat treatment: Apply follow-up treatments if sufficient new growth warrants re-treatment. Do not apply more than 200 g/ha per season.
  • Irrigation systems: Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system.
